Consultancy in the field of metal and plastic welding

Welding is defined as a so-called special process. The resulting quality cannot be ensured retrospectively; it must be consistently ensured right from the initial intention. Briefly put, it is the systematic synergistic effect of the right key factors, in particular the design of the weldment, the design of the conditions for the execution of the weldment, ensuring the execution of the weldment and its possible assembly, and ensuring in-process and final inspections. Each of these factors consists of many qualified activities and measures that cannot be described in a completely trivial way, as they require deeper knowledge and experience with these processes.

When providing consultancy services, we most often encounter questions such as how to weld a certain material. Yes, a simple answer can be provided. However, our service offer is intended to be more comprehensive, i.e., to meet higher-level requirements, in the sense of developing a welding technological procedure, including WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), and possibly including heat treatment.

Furthermore, you can have us assess the Project Documentation of the weldment; we can also arrange a static calculation of the weldment according to the Eurocode if necessary.

In addition to drafting a welding/brazing procedure (pWPS, WPS, BPS), we can help clients obtain an Inspection Certificate for the qualification of these procedures (WPQR).

Execution of Welding Supervision and NDT

We provide professional welding supervision (SD) for our clients through professionally qualified persons according to ČSN EN ISO 14731 (European Welding Engineer, European Welding Technologist). Only the provision of supervision guarantees the investor a truly problem-free execution and handover of the welded structure project. It is appropriate to state that this function should primarily be filled by the weldment contractor. This is by no means a mere formality. SD is internationally designated as a Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC), and its role in the creation of every welded structure is absolutely irreplaceable. The RWC bears criminal liability for meeting all requirements (safety, functionality, quality, reliability, the environment) placed on the weldment.

Performing tests before, during, and after welding is an important part of the proof of conformity for a weldment placed on the market. Generally, with weldments, we deal with two areas of testing, i.e., destructive (DT) and non-destructive testing (NDT). The type and scope of testing are determined by the relevant execution standards and regulations. The RWC determines their type and frequency and records them in the draft Inspection and Test Plan (ITP). We provide our customers with both the ITP design and the execution of tests by competent persons. Using our own personnel, we then perform visual inspection of welds (VT - Visual Testing) according to various execution regulations (ČSN EN ISO 17637 for metals, or ČSN EN 13100-1 for plastics) and according to various evaluation regulations for determining the quality levels of welded joints. For your information, a competently manufactured weldment always undergoes 100% VT of all welds.

Consultancy for certification according to ISO 3834 and EN 1090

For clients who have implemented a quality management system according to ČSN EN ISO 9001:2009 in their company, we offer the possibility of expert consultancy for the certification of welding processes, especially according to the aforementioned regulations. We will also help with the preparation of the necessary documentation and, for example, with the Initial Type Testing (ITT).
